Special places: El Pendulo, Mexico City

Posted in:

Last summer, I started a Special Places series, and then promptly forgot about it. Well, it's back! And with one of my very favourite discoveries from our time on the road.

El Pendulo is a small chain of bookshops with a couple of branches in Mexico City. And the one in Polanco is beautiful. It's often on 'best bookshops in the world' lists, and it's easily the nicest one I've been to. There are plants everywhere, lots of light and scattered armchairs and benches for reading.

Every Saturday, they have live music and you can either sit at the tables in the front or on the little terrace upstairs. Coffee and eggs followed by book browsing is my perfect start to the weekend.

The lovely El Pendulo!
